The FVG Airport is an international airport both for passengers and goods and it’s the only one present in this area.
Geographically the airport is lacated in a central position with relatively short distances from major regional centers (33 km from Trieste, 40 km from Udine, 80 km from Pordenone, 20 km from Gorizia) and international ones (50 km from Koper, 130 km from Ljubljana). It’s situated along the Pan-European Corridor V running through Europe from Lisbon to Kiev that involves the creation of an integrated intermodal HUB in front of the airport, that is the object of the research and project.
The new Intermodal HUB is a strategic regional infrastructure, connected to the FVG Airport that will link it to the railway network, to the existing road network and to the main common carriers.
The intervention consists of a link between the existing passenger terminal, the TAV (=high spped trains), the new bus station, the parking sysitem. The entire system has also been equipped with a new internal road distribution.
